Slowly Moving In..
The system is now about 30 or less miles from salem according to dopplar radar. Freezing rain is spreading into the area, I expect the same for us when it rolls in. According to my weather station, its 35.2. Pretty warm, but the DP is 17 and when the mositure sturates the atmoshphere we expect that to drop the temps pretty good. Maybe 2 hours away still for McMinnville. Keep posted.

In order for freezing rain to occurt there needs to be lots of warm air aloft. I just checked the temps for Oregon's mountain passes to see if the warm air was really up there already and here are my findings: It is currently 20 degrees at Government Camp; 10.5 at Blue Box Pass; 9 degrees at Santiam Pass; 15 at Willamette Pass; and 32 even all the way down south at Siskiyou. I'm not seeing were this warm air aloft is, and without that, I don't see why this couldn't start out as an all snow event in at least the North Willamette Valley. You can find all the pass temp info on the ODOT website. What do you think Grant?
